Testimonials

"This is a great series for newbies who are feeling a little intimidated by the yoga studio experience. You learn what to expect in a class as well as basic terminology, philosophy and practice. It is easy to follow, enjoyable, educational and you feel soooooo good afterwards! Sam is an excellent teacher and all around great person! "

-Beginner's Series participant

"Sam has been providing virtual chair yoga classes for Nymeo employees for over a year now. She brings an energetic, reassuring energy. This is a fantastic way to start the work day! "

-Tasha, HR Generalist, Nymeo Federal Credit Union

"You are a natural teacher and it is obvious you love what you do. You make your students feel super comfortable and there is no pressure to "do it right " as you stress, there is no right or wrong and that it is practice."

-Jeri, Yoga student

Frequently asked questions

Yes! Chair yoga is designed for all levels, including beginners. It focuses on gentle movements, stretching, and breathing. Your instructor will give options for different experience levels and body types.

Generally speaking, yes. Chair yoga is safe for most people. Those who have specific health concerns should consult a physician first. You should never force a pose. Listen to your body, take breaks, and skip any movements that cause sharp pain.

For students with high blood pressure or other heart conditions should avoid inversions (poses with head below heart). Your instructor will remind everyone of this during class.

Nope! Just a chair, comfortable clothing, and a way to access the meeting (hosted on Zoom on Teams.)

The ideal chair is one that is sturdy, stable, and doesn't have wheels or arms. However, in an office setting, we are likely to have all kinds of different chairs, many of which have wheels and/or arms, and that's fine! We don't need a perfect setup to receive the benefits.

Great! We are happy to switch to a mat-based yoga class. Students will need to have their own mats, and you will need to have space available for them to practice.

There are lots! Practicing online allows the most number of teammates to participate, whether they are working at home or another location.
It is also ideal for those who have limited space, since team members can practice right at their desks.

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that does not restrict movement. Students will be given the option to keep shows on or take them off. Women should not wear heels the day of class (unless comfortable slipping them off for practice.)

In short: NO. Some folks may have a religion-based opposition to practicing, but yoga is NOT a religion, nor is it affiliated with any specific religion.
In most cases, we will only stick to the stretches and not get into yoga philosophy (but if that is something your team wants to learn more about, we can certainly incorporate that!)
